Happy, playful, and fun-loving, these are the characteristics of a Flat-Coated Retriever. Add an American and Canadian champion to those characteristics and you’ll have Koby, our 5-year-old Flat-Coated Retriever, who brings excitement and happiness to us while in or out of the show ring. Koby became a American champion at the ripe age of 14 months and followed that up two months later by getting his Canadian champion title. Since then Koby has continued to win ribbons of all sizes. He has been ranked on the American Kennel Club/Eukanuba Top 25 list for three years in a row and is currently on now for 2008.
He has won over 100 Best in Breed honors and multi GROUP wins. In March ’07 and April '08, he was featured on Animal Planet while at the Rose City Classic in Portland, Ore. He has recently won the Breed at the Eukanuba National's in Long Beach, Ca December 1 '07 and that was televised in February '08 with his handler Tony Carter.
In Canada Koby has ranked No. 4 Flat-Coated Retriever for two years in a row and he has had multi GROUP wins and has recently been on The Largest Dog Show in Canada at the Trade-Ex, it was televised in Canada on TBS in February 2008. He has just recieved his certific of being the No. 2 Flat-Coat for 2007.
Koby reached the pinnacle of all dog shows. An invitation to the 2008 Westminster Dog Show in New York, NY. The show was held at Madison Square Garden in Manhattan on Feb 11-12, 2008.
Koby is the third Flat-Coat owned by Ken and Cathy Johnson to come out of the Blacklace family, bred by Kathy Kondrat from Chilliwack, British Columbia. The two Flat-Coats to precede Koby -- Rudy, who passed away in 2005, and Micky -- both became American and Canadian champions, as well. Like most Flat-Coats, Koby loves to swim, retrieve, play fetch or just relax by putting his head on your lap while you watch TV, and his favorite thing of all is to bug you to play with the tennis ball 24/7.... Despite the accolades Koby keeps a level head, and loves the show ring.
Koby has fit right into the Johnson’s household with their three boys and grandson.
We would like to Thank our Handler Tony Carter who took on the job of showing Koby in July '07 and has done an amazing job. The two have just been awesome together and Koby absolutely loves him.
